The 1772 Foundation and the Preservation Trust of Vermont have awarded twelve historic preservation one-for-one matching grants totaling $100,000. Grants were provided for exterior work, such as painting; surface restoration; fire/security systems; repairs to/restoration of chimneys, porches, roofs, and windows; repairs to foundations and sills; and masonry repointing. Individual grants ranged from $4,765 to the grant maximum of $10,000, with six organizations receiving the latter amount. Grants also were awarded in each of the other five New England states.
